Overview
You can default the union on visit labour records based on location-specific union defaults. This provides more accurate union assignment when technicians work at different locations with different union requirements.
Configuration
Navigate to Service Management > Locations.
Select a Location.
Select the Union Defaults tab.
Trade - Employee trade classification (Required)
Trade Description - Description of trade (Display only)
Effective Date - Date when union applies (Required)
Union - Union code (Required)
Union Description - Union name (Display only)
View, add, or edit union default entries.
Open an existing record or select the Add button to create a new record.
Select the Trade from the employee trade lookup.
Enter the Effective Date.
You can have multiple entries for the same trade with different effective dates.
Example:
Trade | Effective Date | Union |
ADMIN | 01/01/25 | Local 353 |
ADMIN | 06/01/25 | Local 280 |
Coins ERP+ uses the appropriate union based on the visit labour date.
Select the Union from the union lookup.
Save the record.
Defaulting Process
When a visit labour record is received from the mobile device, Coins ERP+ will:
Check Location Union Defaults
Match by employee's trade
Coins ERP+ uses the trade from the employee record that the technician is linked to, not from the technician record itself.
Find applicable record based on effective date
If match found, default union from location.
If no match is found in Step 1, Coins ERP+ uses the union from the employee record.
Integration with Payroll
The payroll transfer program:
Reads the union from the visit labour record.
Transfers that union to the timecard.
Does not attempt to re-default or change the union.
If you create a timecard directly in payroll for a technician costing to a service order, payroll does not look at the service management location union defaults table.
