Period Maintenance allows the user to set up the payroll period and type within a Payroll Frequency.
NOTE: A Payroll Frequency must be chosen first, as the Period Maintenance option is in the menu tree of each available frequency.
Go to Payroll > [Payroll Frequency] > Period Maintenance. Choose the correct Payroll Frequency for your business process. If you run both Weekly and 2-Weekly payrolls, this must be completed in both Frequencies.
· The Frequency options are Weekly, Monthly, Twice Monthly, 2-Weekly or 4-Weekly Payroll.

Use the Period Type drop down arrow to choose from list. Once chosen, Click Add. For a typical Payroll processing, a Regular Period will be added.
Period Type options and descriptions:
v Regular - ordinary Payroll cycle.
v Adjusting - runs as a separate Payroll cycle from regular cycle. The period ending dates and check dates are used from the regular cycle.
v Future - Payroll cycle that holds timecards for future use. When created, you are prompted to only fill in the Period Ending Date. When you establish a Regular or Adjusting Period using this date, the future timecards are converted into active timecards.

Enter the following information:
v Check Date, Period Ending Date and Period Start Date
v Fiscal Period and Tax Year
v Month – numeric month indicator (ie, 8 for August)
v Number of Weeks in Period – indicates the number of weeks being paid in period
v Monthly Calculation Period – defaults after the Month is entered
v Description – This description is used to identify the payroll period so you do not have to manage period numbers.
v ESS Indicator – Mark the period available for Employee Self Service
v MCC Indicator – Mark whether the PR Period is used for the Manual Check Calculator
Once all information is entered, Click the Save Icon
at the beginning of the line.Figure 3: Enter Data and Save Line
The selected Payroll Frequency Payroll Period record has now been created and timesheets can be input towards this period.
